Dear Assembly Member Halderman;
Thank you for meeting with Jeff Rabe on my behalf on Wednesday 2/02/2011. The amendment to the Unruh Civil Rights Act that Jeff spoke to you about is near and dear to every motorcyclist’s heart. The amendment adds “means of transportation, clothing, or identifying membership in any association, organization, group or club” to the existing protected categories.
As motorcyclists, we have been denied access into public places specifically because of what we wear or what we ride, not because of individual behaviors. Business owners have been “threatened” by Law Enforcement to pull their liquor license for serving “our kind.” A large MC event in Fresno was shut down minutes before it was to open because of these issues. There seems to be a growing movement, fueled by the media; to lump tax-paying, God-fearing American motorcyclists with “street gangs.” Nothing could be farther from the truth. We wear our club patches proudly to identify our “roots” in brotherhood, sisterhood, veterans, religious, service (Fire, Police) and other “like” groups.
Motorcycle Clubs are not street gangs and we should not be categorized as such based on falsehoods and sensationalized hype. Adding these protected categories to the Unruh Civil Rights Act assures us the freedom to associate with like-minded individuals in the pursuit of our happiness, a constitutionally protected American right.
Thank you for taking the time to visit with Jeff Rabe and hear our concerns. You have proven you are a friend to motorcyclists and I hope you will consider carrying the amendment to the Unruh Civil Rights Act on our behalf.

I had a couple of questions regarding your club, mainly because we are trying to contact a biking club that would want to help us help our children, Cian and Kaelan who were within the last few months, diagnosed with a serious brain disorder, called Chiari. Our son is probably the worst in health and we say probably because we haven’t been able to get our medical group to move any quicker than they have in regards to care for our little girl who is four years old [Kaelan]. We live locally in Fair Oaks and have been struggling to find resources to promote fundraising to get our kids to UCLA Mattel Hospital, under the care of their Neurosurgeon, Dr. Jorge Lazareff.
So, finally the question is, do you do fundraisers or bike rides for children? If you do what could we do to arrange something with your group? We are waiting for billing codes from UCLA to provide to donors and expect to go public with Good Morning Sacramento. We have a dear dear friend who is Santa to our children as well as to the public... officially the Sac Kings Santa. His name is Dave Blau. He has donated his services and anything related to Cian, our 5 year old little boy and tiny Kaelan. We could arrange photo shoots, breakfast, publicity for your group but more importantly support for our kids to get them the specialized care they need. Cian is need of brain decompression surgery as soon as possible. We just don’t have the means.
If you think you could help in any way with your club, like maybe being in the coming parades... [just tossing out ideas]... would you please get back to me?
Sincerely,
Cortney Kelleher, [mom]

Sac to the Bay is an annual event intended to raise awareness and funds for our troops. SBF's long standing view is to support our troops regardless of our personal feelings on wars that our country may be fighting.
We feel not all troops support all the wars they may find themselves in but are fighting to protect or civil liberties. We ask all riders on this day to help us in our efforts.
We will have representatives from the armed services ready to accept your direct donations and will also be giving a percentage of the profits from Sac to the Bay as well.
We ask a $20.00 Donation and with that comes and all day event! a great ride, meal, parking. a concert, a DJ and supporting our troops! Where else can you get and give so much for so little?
Sac to the Bay this year is going to provide an all day event
This year we have added San Jose as a starting point for those in the south bay to meet up with us.
Everyone is welcome to attend!
For info on the end location please call 877 SBFreaks after 10:00am October 16th Saturday morning
